About the project
Following years of growth and organizational evolution, Okwaho Equal Source Inc. approached ThistleLeaf Creative to support the transition into a new chapter — one that more accurately reflected the organization's depth, direction, and future vision. The goal was not simply to create a new visual identity, but to develop a meaningful brand foundation capable of representing Indigenous-led leadership, nation building, systems transformation, relationship development, and long-term community impact in a way that felt authentic, intentional, and culturally grounded.
ThistleLeaf Creative was honoured to lead the strategic naming and brand development process for the organization, guiding the exploration of identity, positioning, messaging, and future direction. Through collaborative consultation, research, and creative development, the name Áhskwa Consulting was proposed and selected — a Mohawk word meaning “roof” or “bridge,” symbolizing the organization’s commitment to building meaningful connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, knowledge systems, organizations, and ways of thinking.
Alongside the naming process, ThistleLeaf Creative developed the wider brand ecosystem including website design and development, social media direction, content analysis, messaging alignment, and archetype-based brand positioning designed to ensure consistency across all digital touchpoints. The final result was a cohesive and future-focused brand identity that better reflects the organization’s evolving purpose, leadership, and vision for long-term impact. It was an incredible privilege to help bring this transformation to life and support the next stage of Áhskwa Consulting’s journey.
